Capt. Daniel Henchman allays the fears of his superstitious troops.

The former writing school teacher commands a force of 100 men dispatched to find and fight King Philip. When they arrive at the Neponset River and observe a full eclipse of the moon, some of the men imagine seeing a vision of a scalp in the middle of the moon and see it as a bad omen, but Henchman convinces them to proceed with their mission.
